The extent to which an AI system can simulate human abilities is used as the means of evaluating the types of AI, since AI research aspires to make machines imitate human-like functionality. AI can also be categorised fewer than one, among the different forms of AI, based on how a computer compares with humans in terms of usability and efficiency. Under such a system, an AI that can execute more human-like tasks with equal levels of competence would be known as a more advanced type of AI, whereas a simplified and less advanced type will be considered an AI that has restricted functionality and efficiency. There are two ways in which AI is usually graded, based on these criteria. One category is based on classifying AI and AI-enabled machines based on their potential to “think” and maybe even “feel” like humans based on their resemblance to the human mind. As per to this system of classification, there are four types of AI. At present, we are well past the first kind and actively perfecting the second. The third and fourth forms, at the moment, exist in theory. They’re going to be the next phase of A.I. Let us take a look –
Reactive Machine –
Basic operations are carried out by Reactive Machines. Such a stage of A.I. is the simplest. With some output, these forms respond to some data. There is no learning taking place. For any A.I., this is the first step. A simple reactive machine is a machine learning that takes a human face as an input and gives out a box around the face to classify it as a face. No inputs are processed by the model, no learning is carried out.
Reactive machines are static machine learning models. Their design is the easiest, and they can be found around the web on GitHub repos. These models can be readily downloaded, exchanged, transferred around and installed into the toolkit of a programmer.
Limited memory –
Limited types of memory refer to the capacity of an A.I. to store past information and/or forecasts, using that information to make better assumptions. With Minimal Memory, the architecture of machine learning becomes slightly more complicated. Any machine learning model involves the development of limited memory, but the model can be implemented as a form of reactive machine.
There are three main types of models of machine learning that achieve this form of Limited Memory:
- Reinforcement learning
- Long Short Term Memory (LSTMs)
- Evolutionary Generative Adversarial Networks (E-GAN)
Theory of mind –
Artificial intelligence types are yet to meet the Theory of Mind. These are only in their early stages which can be seen in things like vehicles that are self-driving. The thoughts and feelings of humans are beginning to engage in this type of AI. For a person guided at fulfilling a goal, machine learning models do a lot. Present models have a one-way partnership with AI. Siri and Alexa bow to every order. If you scream angrily on Google Maps to take you in another direction, it does not provide comfort and support and say, “This is the quickest way.” Who am I supposed to call and tell you that you’re going to be late? Instead, Google Maps tends to return the same traffic updates and ETAs it has already shown and is not worried about your frustration.

Eventually, in some far-off future, maybe AI Accomplishes nirvana. It becomes conscious of itself. This sort of A.I. exists only in stories, and what stories always do is — it instills viewers with enormous quantities of optimism and apprehension. Beyond the human mind, a self-aware intelligence has an autonomous intelligence, and people would probably have to negotiate terms with the entity is formed. What happens, good or poor, is the assumption of everyone.
